Pleased to Meet You

My name is Luc Glasbeek. I am passionate about yoga and sharing this ancient tradition with you. And it's so much more than just physical postures! image

I am 38 years old, originally from The Netherlands. I moved to the UK in 2004. I'm living close to the Reading Town Centre with my Greek partner Elena.

Personal practice

Yoga is an integral part of my life, keeping me healthy & grounded, and adding depth to it.

I have a daily yoga practice consisting of āsana (postures), prānāyāma (breathing techniques), vedic chanting (postures for the mind), and dhyānam (meditation). I'm interested in yoga philosophy as well.

Memberships of Professional Bodies

I am a member of the British Wheel of Yoga and Association for Yoga Studies.

My 'Day Job'

Like my students, I know all about the demands and pressures of modern life. I'm working full-time in the IT industry and have been doing so since 1995. I am experienced in leading (international) teams.

I know from my own experience how yoga can help achieving balance and inner calm when everything around seems to move at breakneck speed.

I'm a regular participant in the meditation sessions that are conducted in my company and I contribute ideas on how these sessions are run.

Lifestyle

Elena and I enjoy cooking vegetarian meals, using the knowledge of an ancient Indian health system called Ayurveda. Following a wholesome diet—which takes my constitution & lifestyle into consideration—has contributed hugely to my energy levels, sense of well-being, mental clarity, and quality of yoga practice.

Elena & I do our best to live according to yogic principles and minimise our impact on the environment. This means, for instance, a lot of cycling (I don't own a car), avoiding meat, and minimal electrical equipment. I'm pleased to say that my website is hosted by a company which is 100% solar powered.
